Great Vacation Homes on a Tight Budget

There are a few things that I dislike about vacation homes in general. Besides the second mortgage, neighborhood association fees, property taxes, utilities and other problems that come with a vacation home i decided that I will no longer want to pay any rent or utilities to visit another part of the country.

You may be thinking that I have completely lost my marbles at this point, but this isn’t the case and I can prove it.

Instead there are tons of ways I can travel the country of my choosing without having to pay a cent for rent. One of my favorites is to house sit or post yourself available for house sitting opportunities. These opportunities are available on many sites and available in over 58 countries.

The duties and responsibilities of the house sitter is usually pet related because the homeowner has pets that need to be taken care of while they are out of town.

Duties may be to check their mail, watch for any suspicious activity, walk and feed the pets, and potentially make sure that the bills are paid (if the homeowners are going to be gone for a while.). If you do not like animals then these type of opportunities are probably not going to be for you.

Of course, you don’t have to actually pay their bills, but it is important for you to know that these jobs usually do not have any type of payment. You are almost always agreeing to watch the owners home and pets for the ability to stay at the property while they are away.

In my opinion this is a great trade off. You should definitely look into this option as well if you like to travel as you can build a reputation with a reputable site and offer your services to hundreds of homeowners looking for honest people to care for their homes.
